Introduction

Take ownership of the development of the core software application for a new microscope platform. In this role, you will define and implement both the technical software foundation and an innovative, user-centric graphical user interface tailored to diverse market and customer requirements. Leveraging your deep expertise in software development and GUI design, you will transform complex user needs into intuitive, high-performance solutions and make a significant contribution to the long-term success of the product.

Your Responsibilities and Duties

  • Define, design, and implement the software, including the overall architecture of a new microscope platform, building on existing solutions where appropriate
  • Design and implement an innovative, user-centric graphical user interface (GUI)
  • Translate complex customer, user, and market requirements into intuitive and powerful software solutions
  • Ensure high levels of system performance, stability, and scalability
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, system, software, and physics teams to seamlessly integrate existing and new software components
  • Foster knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and sustainable technical documentation

Your Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Several years of experience developing complex software applications, ideally for imaging systems with significant user interaction
  • Strong expertise in modern software engineering practices, including software architecture, interfaces, performance optimization, maintainability, testing, and CI/CD
  • Extensive experience in GUI design, usability concepts, and user-centered design
  • Apply deep expertise in C#/.NET, C++, and Python development
  • Experience with GUI development for Windows (.Net/WPF) is required, experience with alternatives like Blazor is desirable
  • Additional experience with development of crossplatform applications for Windows and Linux is desirable
  • Experience with C++/Python image acquisition and processing, libraries like OpenCV/Intel IPP is desirable
  • Experience with CUDA development, hardware control, framegrabbers, FPGAs is a plus
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Structured, quality-focused, and solution-oriented working style
  • Professional proficiency in English. German language skills are considered an advantage
